New year bought a new development between Rourkela Steel Plant and The Akshaya Patra Foundation. As a part of CSR initiatives Rourkela Steel Plant has joined hands with Akshaya Patra. This development is towards providing mid-day meal to about 45000 school students in Rourkela Municipality area along with Lathikata and Bisra Blocks.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Hyderabad inaugurated the Akshaya Ananta Scholarship Programme on 30th December, 2012. This Scholarship programme is an initiative to support higher education of children. The occasion was graced by eminent Government dignitaries namely- Sri M.V.S Krishnaji Rao, Honourable UPA-Lokayukta, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Sri A Dinakar Babu, IAS, Honourable Collector & District Magistrate, Medak; and Sri S Ramachander Rao, Revenue Divisional Officer, Sangareddy.
Honourable District Collector & District Magistrate of Medak- Sri A Dinakar Babu, along with Tahsildar, Patancheru Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) and other team members made a visit to our kitchen facility in Hyderabad. Sri Raja Hamsa Dasa, Operations Manager, took the visitors around the campus and explained the complete process of our kitchen operations. Sri A Dinakar Babu was very impressed with our programme.
The best 20 smiles from over 300 entries are being showcased at Alliance Francaise Bangalore as part of ‘Click a Smile’ exhibition organized by The Akshaya Patra Foundation. The two-day exhibition was inaugurated by Kannada Cine star Radhika Gandhi on 15th December. The exhibition ends at 6.30pm on 16th December, 2010
As part of celebrating 10 years of operation by The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Click a Smile, a 2 day Photography exhibition from Dec 15- 16 will showcase over 20 best pictures that Akshaya Patra received in an online photo contest held earlier this year.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation in association with Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA), India, organized a seminar and panel discussion on “Hunger in India, a Silent Emergency”. Many eminent personalities were part of the discussion.
