Uttar Pradesh was the second state in India to which Akshaya Patra expanded its operations. We began in August 2003 in the holy city of Vrindavan, Mathura district. An exclusive kitchen facility has been created in an architectural geodesic marvel.
In keeping with the regional preferences of the children in the area, a roti machine which makes 40,000 rotis per hour, with sprinklers to distribute oil evenly to each roti was installed. The decentralized kitchen model is also in place in 88 villages of Mathura District, currently creating employment for hundreds of women in the area.
