The Akshaya Patra Foundation is one of the pioneer NGOs to implement the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Established in 2000 and headquartered in Bengaluru, India, the Foundation has been in the service of children for the past 18 years.
Vision: No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.
Mission: To feed 5 million children by 2020.
Remaining focussed on its vision and mission, Akshaya Patra has progressed responsibly from providing nutritious meals to 1,500 children in 2000 to providing freshly cooked, locally palatable, wholesome meals to 1,762,133 children in 2018. With emphasis on serving children sustainably, the Foundation has strategically increased its operational base from five schools in one location to 14,702 schools in 40 locations of 12 states.
