The CII Award for Food Safety, was launched by CII in 2010 to promote internationally benchmarked practices on Food Safety in Small, Medium and Large Food Businesses and build capacity in the food chain. The Award is one of its kind and focuses on Food Safety Maturity Assessment to promote excellence.
CII’s Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence (FACE) had invited various Organisations and Suppliers engaged in Food Manufacturing and Food Service establishments to participate in the 10th CII Food Safety Award 2019. The criteria for Food Safety Systems were drawn from the ISO 22000: 2018 /ISO 22002-1 standards & best Industry practices. The assessors of CII committee were impressed with the good practices that were showcased by Akshaya Patra’s Bhavnagar kitchen.
The Jury has recommended the recognition level of Trophy for Outstanding Performance in Food Safety to ‘The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bhavnagar, Gujarat’ in the Category of ‘Small & Medium Food Service – Rising Star - Catering’, for the year 2019.
Shri. Bharatharsha Dasa, Regional President NCR & National Communication Head, Suresh Kumar P (Deputy General Manager – Quality), Abhishek Shukla and Santhosh Kumar (Regional Quality Managers Gujarat), received the award from Mr. Pawan Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI and Mr. S Dave, Chairman Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan, Former Chairman Codex Alimentarius Commission and Former Chairman FAO/WHO Co-ordinating committee for Asia, on 11 December 2019 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.
An Outstanding Performance is equivalent to the 1st place in the CII Awards. Many industries participate in this assessment across India amongst which Bhavnagar kitchen bagged the first place.
