The Akshaya Patra Foundation has received an incredible support of 4 meal distribution vehicles from Mitsubishi Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. and Metal One Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. The wheels for meals were flagged off by Mr. Yutaka Yoshida – CRO of Chennai Branch, Mr. Rohit Chopra – CSR Head and Ms. Payal Dodia – Corporate Group on 23 April 2019, marking the day as an expression of love and concern for the underprivileged children.  These vehicles would be used for distributing hot, nutritious, wholesome mid-day meals to more than 10,000 children in 120 Government schools in Nagpur, truly making a difference in their lives.

To mark ‘International Yoga Day’ on 21 June 2019, Akshaya Patra is hosting a YOGATHON in Pune. Ms. Abhishri Rajput from Koya Fitness Academy will be our yoga expert for the day. This event is open to all.

Expanding its reach strategically across the topography of India, The Akshaya Patra Foundation inaugurated its 48th Kitchen on 22 July 2019 in Nawabpet, Telangana.

It is the 4th kitchen in Telangana, the other three being located in Kandi, Narsingi, and Warangal. The 48th kitchen has the capacity to cook 26,000 meals per day. It has been sponsored by CLP India Pvt. Ltd.

“Swachhta Hi Seva” a campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission that aims to increase participation towards Swachhta.

‘Swachhta Hi Seva’, an initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aims to generate greater public participation, reinforce the concept of “sanitation as everyone’s business” and culminate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth year celebration with a nationwide campaign.

Answering to the call-to-action of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Akshaya Patra in partnership with Coca-Cola Foundation have made a forward move by initiating activities to promote ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ in beneficiary schools across India.

Wide varieties of activities are planned for schools in Rajasthan, Orissa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Over 10 schools in each location will welcome enthusiastic young volunteers from AIKYA – Akshaya Patra’s official volunteering arm, who will help make each activity an interactive learning session for children & teachers.

Following is a list of the activities taking place,

• Pledge making drives: Every headmaster & student will take a pledge to create awareness of cleanliness, ensure proper segregation of waste & do shramdaam to create a clean country
• Essay competition: Students will write essays on topics such as – cleanliness is next to godliness & cleanliness is a civic duty, each school will receive a certification of participation from Akshaya Patra & Coca-Cola Foundation.
• Cleanliness drives: Volunteers from AIKYA will visit schools to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

On 9 February 2020, Arpan, a philanthropic group of six friends conducted a fundraising campaign in support of The Akshaya Patra Foundation in Hyderabad. The group successfully raised ₹11 lakhs and donated the amount to the Foundation. Akshaya Patra is humbled and wholeheartedly grateful to Arpan for this significant support.
