MAKE IMPACT ON THIS MAKARA SANKRANTI!
Donating on Makara Sankranti is considered auspicious. While the ritualistic importance is that it brings happiness and prosperity to the ones who gives, it also ensures that everyone has enough. Your one act of kindness will ensure that children have access to daily nutritious meals and quality education for the whole year.
SIGNIFICANCE
Makara Sankranti is a harvest festival celebrated by Hindus across India. It heralds the arrival of spring, the season of new beginnings, after the long, harsh winter. It is the time of year when people pay tribute to the Sun God, whose power sustains all life on Earth. In Punjab, Lohri is celebrated a day before Makara Sankranti. In Tamil Nadu, Boghi is the first day of the four-day Pongal Festival.
Even though the festival goes by different names (Makara Sankranti in most parts of the country, Magh Bihu in Assam, Thai Pongal in Tamil Nadu and so on) and is associated with different rituals (kite flying, bonfires, etc.), everyone celebrates with the same sense of joy, optimism and hope.
