The Clean Slate Carnival, a joint initiative between The Akshaya Patra Foundation and Cargill Business Services India, entered the prestigious Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for ‘maximum blackboards of government schools cleaned and painted on the same day’ on 23 May 2024.
Cargill volunteers cleaned and painted over 1,000 blackboards in 99 government and government-aided schools in Bengaluru, thus demonstrating the impact of collective efforts to drive societal change in the educational sector. Over 1,000 employees participated in the event, including Aparna Rao, CBS India Center Lead, and Matthew Wood, Sr. Director, Sustainability Digital, Data & Analytics. Their efforts helped improve the school environment, benefitting over 30,000 children in these schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Shridhar Venkat, CEO of Akshaya Patra, said, “This event is more than just an attempt to set a record; it is a demonstration of the community’s commitment to improve educational infrastructure and create a brighter future for children across India.” He also expressed his sincere gratitude to Cargill volunteers for making the event a grand success.
