Established in 2000, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has dedicated itself to the noble cause of powering young minds with fresh, wholesome meals in government schools every day as the implementing partner of PM POSHAN Abhiyaan (Mid-Day Meal Programme). In 22 years, it has become one of the pioneering mid-day meal NGOs in India. It is registered under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882.
Starting with a modest initiative of feeding 1,500 children in five schools, Akshaya Patra has grown to implement one of the world’s largest non-profit-run school feeding programmes. With unwavering support from the government and donors, it currently provides hygienic and nutritious mid-day meals to 2 million+ children in 22,000+ schools across 15 states and 2 union territories in India. The NGO also has a vast alumni base, excelling in the fields of science and the arts alike.
Today, Akshaya Patra is well-acclaimed for harnessing the power of technology in its large, mechanised kitchens to provide high-quality meals to its young beneficiaries. It also has its Food Safety and Quality Control (FSQC) Laboratories to regularly assess the quality and enhance the nutrition of meals. This setup has made the Foundation a global point of interest, attracting inquisitive minds from all corners of the world.
Michael Page, driven by a deep commitment to changing lives and supporting vulnerable children, has joined hands with Akshaya Patra to ensure that socioeconomically disadvantaged families can count on one wholesome meal each day, thereby contributing to their overall well-being. Additionally, by incentivising education in schools, the collaboration aims to accelerate the collective progress towards a more inclusive society.
