New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has donated a minibus to Akshaya Patra with an aim to ferry children from schools to the kitchen on educational tours. This on-going initiative familiarises the students with Mid-Day Meal Programme and gives them detailed information about how meals are prepared in centralised kitchens.

So far, four beneficiary schools have participated in this educational tour and teachers who accompanied the children have praised Akshaya Patra’s Food for Education initiative.

Currently, Akshaya Patra provides mid-day meals to 139 schools (17,024 children) in Mangaluru. To know more about our reach across India, click here.
