President Pranab Mukherjee appreciates Akshaya Patra
The Honourable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee met with Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman and Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice-Chairman of Akshaya Patra. During the meeting, Madhu Pandit Dasa briefed the President about the vision of Akshaya Patra and its operations.
The President was very appreciative of the tireless efforts of the Foundation. He also expressed his heartfelt good wishes to Akshaya Patra in eradicating hunger and promoting education.
Akshaya Patra recently added its 21st centralised kitchen in the country and is now serving 1.4 million children with wholesome mid-day meals throughout the academic year. It implements the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in partnership with the Government of India and several State Governments. The Foundation reaches out to children from over 10,000 Government and Government aided schools across 10 states in India.
Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa thanked The Honourable President for his kind gesture and said "We are very honoured to receive the support of The Honourable President, Sri Pranab Mukherjee. This is very crucial for us as we stride to scale-up to meet our mission of reaching five million children by 2020."

Around 25 enthusiastic young volunteers participated in a cleanliness drive organised by AIKYA, in pursuance of its mission to enhance the quality of school education, promote a culture of ‘Cleanliness and Hygiene’ in schools served by The Akshaya
