Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi commemorated The Akshaya Patra Foundation’s serving of cumulative 3 Billion meals at an event held at the organisation’s campus in Vrindavan, Mathura, on 11th February, 2019.
As a part of nationwide industrial study tour, the 500 aspiring youngsters ‘Jagriti yatra’ arrived Visakhapatnam and participated in many awareness activities. Jagriti Yatra, an Ngo inspires enables youth from small towns villages of India to build India through enterprise.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation’s school rejuvenation programme, ‘School and Student Transformation – A Model School Initiative’ was launched by Maharaja of Mysuru.
Fueled by its goal to ensure that no child in India is deprived of education because of hunger, the Akshaya Patra Foundation continues to increase its fleet of kitchens to serve hot nutritious meals to school children across states. By 2020, the foundation aims to feed 5 million children, from 1.75 million currently.
For the past 17 years, the Akshaya Patra Foundation has kept with its vision that no child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger. It now plans to expand to more states and touch more lives.
Cooking may not be rocket science, but when you are feeding over 1.7 million children in 14,314 schools, it could be a fit case for employing the latest technologies to ramp up operational efficiency. Akshaya Patra, the world’s largest NGO-run mid-day meal programme with 38 kitchens spread across 12 states, is one such mammoth enterprise, and it’s using cutting edge technologies to help fulfil its goal of alleviating hunger among school children.
