At Akshaya Patra, serving children safe, nutritious and hygienic mid-day meals has always been the priority. With the responsibility of feeding millions of children every day, we strive to adhere to safety and hygiene best practices at every step—from the procurement of raw materials to the delivery of prepared meals.
Our endeavour is in compliance with food safety standards set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Our kitchens are Food Safety and Management System (FSMS), 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardise and Sustain) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant.
We have set up Food Safety and Quality Control (FSQC) labs to maintain food safety and quality and ensure that the nutritional levels of our mid-day meals are as per MDM guidelines. In addition, we have set up the New Product Development Centres (NPDC) to help us assess the feasibility of enhancing the programme by developing new recipes and opting for in-recipe modification.
