2 Billion meals commemoration in the presence of the President of India
Watch The Akshaya Patra Foundation celebrate the milestone of having served 2 billion meals, in the presence of Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Honourable President of India. Since its inception in the year 2000, Akshaya Patra has grown from feeding 1,500 children in five schools in Bengaluru, to serving nutritious mid-day meals to over 1.6 million children in 13,210 schools at 25 locations across 10 states in India. The Foundation now operates the world’s largest NGO-run mid-day meal programme and has been greatly instrumental in eliminating classroom hunger to keep children from dropping out of school.
