Eagerness to get back to normal life
Moving from a rented house to a Government shelter is a difficult decision that Arshad had to take.
Arshad Khan moved from Delhi to Ahmedabad with the hope of making a good career and saving to feed his family of five. He worked as a labourer in the catering business. The lockdown rendered him jobless in no time. His funds were exhausted and he was unable to pay his rent. He was forced to vacate his house with his family.
With no money to buy food or even cook, Arshad had to take tough decisions of moving out of his home to stay in a Government Homeless shelter of Ranbasera in Ahmedabad. But, his decision was never questioned by his family. If they hadn’t moved to this shelter, they would not have access to meals. The Akshaya Patra Foundation provided food twice a day – afternoon and night to ensure that the inmates receive healthy and nourishing food.
Arshad expresses his willingness to do any work to stand up on his feet once again. The hot meals provided to him and his family give the strength to sustain and survive in difficult times like this.
