Staying away from home without a home?

Is it easy to travel every day from your residence to your workplace even if it is 100+ km far?

This is Haseena’s daily story. She is a native of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, roughly about 100 km from Bengaluru. Before the pandemic, her life was simple, she used to make a living by procuring neem and mango leaves from Hindupur, her hometown, and selling them at KR Market. The pandemic changed everything for her; she was unable to travel to Bengaluru for most of last year as the state borders were closed.

After the relaxation of lockdown rules earlier this year, she resumed her travel to begin selling again. But, as the second wave of the pandemic struck and a new lockdown was imposed again, she was stranded in Bengaluru. With no work and being stuck away from home, life has become difficult for Haseena. For the last 15 days, she has been coming to Akshaya Patra's food relief centre in KR Market for lunch. She considers herself fortunate to receive these meals by Akshaya Patra.

Your support can feed people like Haseena so that they can survive till they continue to work in markets.
