Akshaya Patra served 1 lakh meals to Gujarat flood survivors!
Extreme floods caused due to torrential rain, have continued to wreck several regions in India. Gujarat is one such place, which has been majorly affected. Several districts like Banaskantha, Kalol, Rajkot, Morbi, Surendranagar, Patan, Sabarkantha, Mehsana and Ahmedabad are worst hit.
In the current scenario, rain has stopped and flood water has receded from most of the regions. Sadly, flood water has washed away crops, houses and connecting roads. Given this hardship, the people are striving to meet basic needs. The relief and rescue works are still going on but it requires support from every corner. The Chief Minister of Gujarat – Shri Vijay Rupani – himself is monitoring the relief works from ground zero.
Understanding the dire need of food supply to support the rescue operations, we at The Akshaya Patra Foundation are supplying freshly-made theplas and pickles made in our Gandhinagar and Vadodara centralised kitchens. We are supporting Banaskantha District (North Gujarat), and Kalol and Ahmedabad regions. Since July 25, 2017, Akshaya Patra has been supporting the victims of Gujarat flood with 1 lakh of freshly-made theplas and pickles.
As the region is enormously affected, this situation will take considerable amount of time to get settled; till then, food supply needs to be provided continuously. We have carried out food packet distribution through our associate trust Touchstone Foundation and the local administration. Additionally, the contribution of Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) and CREDAI Gujarat is notable in this cause.
Your contribution can bring a sense of relief and respite for the victims of Gujarat flood. Your donation will be utilised for operational and materials cost to supply food and other necessary resources. Join our movement and send them a helping hand in this hour of need.
