The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a mid-day meal NGO and the implementing partner of Government of India’s Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The NGO is actively working towards eliminating classroom hunger by providing nutritious mid-day meals to school-going children since 2000. Akshaya Patra has been recognised as the world’s largest NGO-run school lunch programme. Currently, Akshaya Patra is feeding 18,02,517 children in 16,856 government and government-aided schools in 51 kitchens across 12 States & 2 Union Territories of India.
Rs. 1,100 CAN FEED ONE CHILD FOR AN ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR
The national average of school working days in one academic year is 232 days. With Rs. 1,100 Akshaya Patra can provide 232 freshly cooked, healthy, and tasty meals to one child on each school day for an entire year. HOW YOUR DONATIONS CAN SAVE TAXES
- Akshaya Patra is registered as an NGO under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. It enables the Foundation to seek donations under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
- As per the revised tax exemption act, effective 1 April 2017, all your donations of above Rs. 500 to Akshaya Patra is eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80G of Income Tax Act.
- Note* - The 80G tax exemption is applicable only for Indian donors and NRI donors (Indian citizens, holding an Indian passport). Foreign donors will be eligible for tax exemption as per the tax laws of their respective countries.
