The flood fury of river Godavari is intensifying with every passing day. People near the rivers have been forced to leave their habitations and belongings to safety. Despite repeated appeals to vacate to safer lands, many still stay.

According to the State Disaster Management, NEARLY 300 VILLAGES ARE AFFECTED

Many relief centres and rehabilitation camps welcome people who are trying to find shelter. It is estimated that the water levels of river Godavari will continue to rise.

People struggle without food and water.

In this crisis, the people of the region are seeking help. The Akshaya Patra Foundation has stepped in to provide packed food to flood-affected people. As of now (on day 5 of the relief activity), the Foundation has provided food to 30,000 people in different areas of Yanam.

The Flood Relief Activity will continue for a few more days due to the worsening flood conditions. It is time we all get together to provide relief in the form of food to the affected people of Yanam.
